A defining work at the crossroads of Pop Art and luxury culture. In 1985, Andy Warhol created a series of bicolour silkscreens for Chanel N°5 as part of his celebrated Ads portfolio — a body of work in which he elevated the icons of American consumer culture into fine art. The bold gradient background, expressive brushstrokes across the bottle, and oversized typography create a composition at once glamorous and subversive, turning a commercial object into a timeless symbol of desire.

This poster is part of a set of four issued by Chanel in 1997 when the house reprised Warhol's imagery for a major advertising campaign. By repeating the same motif across contrasting colour combinations — blue, yellow, pink, red, green, turquoise, black and mauve — each version carries a distinct visual intensity while preserving the graphic elegance of the famous fragrance. The yellow and blue version is among the most striking of the set.
