Few artists defined the visual identity of the Munich Games as memorably as Alan Davie. The Scottish painter's design bursts with his signature language of signs and symbols: a striped, totemic figure spreads its arms against a golden sky, surrounded by concentric eye-forms, a crescent moon, a ladder, triangles and fish-shapes in vivid orange, purple and green. At the bottom, four stylised figures carry the numbers 1–2–3–4, rooting the exuberant abstraction firmly in the spirit of athletic competition. It is joyful, strange, and instantly recognisable.
One of the most beloved designs in the Munich series — alongside Hockney, Vasarely and Antes — this open-edition print was produced for broad public distribution. It carries the full image and the same chromatic intensity as the limited Europa edition, on poster paper.
This piece is sold unframed, carefully rolled and shipped in a rigid tube to ensure it arrives in pristine condition.
