Few artists were better suited to the Olympics than Victor Vasarely. His visual language — concentric rings, shifting grids, forms that seem to pulse and breathe — captures the energy of athletic competition without depicting a single athlete. For the 1972 Munich Games, Vasarely contributed one of the series' most hypnotic designs: a chromatic arrangement of repeated geometric units that seems to vibrate with movement the longer you look at it.
Commissioned under the ambitious cultural programme of the Munich Organising Committee, this poster belongs to the official Edition Olympia 1972 GmbH — a lithograph on fine vélin paper, produced as part of the "édition luxe" run. It stands as both a milestone of Olympic graphic history and a defining example of Op Art applied at its most public scale. Good condition; no tears; some light foxing. Ed. Europa / 4 000 ex.
