A striking original travel poster commissioned by the SNCF to promote tourism in the Loire Valley, created in 1967 by one of France's most celebrated graphic artists. Under the title "Visitez le Val de Loire", Villemot distils the region's essence into a luminous, modernist composition — a dreamlike river landscape and architectural silhouettes rendered in vibrant, flat colours with the fluid, near-abstract lines that are his hallmark. The image conveys elegance without a word of excess.

Bernard Villemot (1911–1989), a student of Paul Colin, is widely regarded as one of the greatest French poster artists of the 20th century. His work for major clients — Orangina, Perrier, Air France, and the SNCF throughout the 1950s to 70s — defined the visual language of postwar French commercial art. His guiding principle, inherited from Colin, was simple: "Treat a poster like a painting." This piece is a textbook illustration of that philosophy.
