Few advertising images have entered the collective imagination as deeply as Cappiello's Thermogène. Conceived in 1909 for Pérol Frères, this incandescent Pierrot — green-faced, chest wrapped in warming wadding, breathing great arcs of fire — became so synonymous with the product that the brand adopted it as its permanent logo. The image is a masterpiece of visual shorthand: illness, heat, and instant relief expressed in a single theatrical gesture.

This edition, printed by Dehon & Cie of Valenciennes-Paris around 1939, is one of the rarer smaller-format reissues of this iconic composition, which had already reached its 19th Vercasson printing by 1926. Professionally linen-backed and restored, it retains the full power of Cappiello's draughtsmanship and chromatic boldness.
