A dynamic composition by Arnaldo Musati (1916–1988) for the Valle d'Aosta Regional Office for Tourism: a skier in a red sweater carves through a burst of snow at full speed, a slalom flag in the foreground and, to the right, the distinctive yellow gondola of the Funivia dei Ghiacciai at Courmayeur — built in 1942, opened to the public in 1947, and the great symbol of Valle d'Aosta's postwar alpine renaissance.
The original design dates from 1948, when Italy was actively rebuilding its tourist industry. Musati was one of the most prolific illustrators working for the region throughout his career.
This copy is a second edition printed in offset lithography in the 1980s, signed in the plate, published by Stab. Pezzini, Milan.
This piece is sold unframed, carefully rolled and shipped in a rigid tube to ensure it arrives in pristine condition.
